Between roughly 2013 and 2016, the Overhead Rack industry evolved from smaller companies who sold through networks of Dealer/Installers, into larger companies selling direct to the consumer on the web. This served the manufacturers well, it dramatically increased the market since they were no longer limited to population centers large enough to support a Dealer. For the consumer, it proved to be a double-edged sword- Pricing reduced due to competition and volume sales, but service virtually disappeared, as nearly all manufacturers eliminated installations as an offering. We are here to fill that void in service!
In today's market, In order to minimize shipping cost on DIY Overhead Racks , and to make installation as simple as possible, most manufacturers limit installation options to ONE, the universal ceiling bracket connection. Your job becomes finding a location for installation where you can use that ONE universal method on the 4 to 6 vertical supports of your rack. This may or may not work in the location you would like for your rack, especially if that location is against a wall or out of a corner of the garage. In other words, you likely don't put your Rack where you want to, you put it where you can find a spot that allows you to follow the instructions!
An experienced Professional Overhead Rack installer has dozens of options available, using tools and equipment far beyond the scope of the DIY installer, either to cope with obstacles to ceiling attachment or to offer superior installation methods. In fact, in the hierarchy of techniques that we use in professional installation, the most common techniques used in those kits are closer to the bottom than the top of the list. As with "Universal "anything, UNIVERSAL is rarely BEST. So You could say that the best job you can possibly do with those kits by their instruction is, by our standards, not good enough.
There are very few conditions that prevent us from installing, In fact, with our level of experience, We usually can see problems in advance, and have a choice of various alternative methods to install in a way that is structurally sound, most often without having to resort to selecting another location.
The picture here shows an actual installation performed by a "Handyman". The customer turned him loose after this first unit, we came in to fix that work and finish the remaining 3 racks.
Overhead Racks are a product purchased primarily by Professionals and High Achievers. People who work hard, make a good living, enjoy the trappings of that good living, and ultimately become a bit overrun by those trappings. Speaking directly to those folks here, You deserve to enjoy your time off with your friends and/or family! In our experience, customers who have installed at least one Overhead on their own report it to be an ordeal of a half to a full day.
To top that off, when they call us in to install a second rack, we rarely see their work done correctly, and often see their work as dangerously wrong. It makes no sense, in view of how efficiently we can produce an outstanding product, to throw that valuable home-time away, suffering and grumbling through a job that we can take off their hands. Go Golfing! Play ball with the kids! Enjoy breakfast in bed with your spouse! By the time you're done, We're done, you look in your Garage and WOW!
